Trek Electric Bike Recall Due to Crash Hazard

Trek Bicycle Corporation has issued a recall for approximately 927 Electra E-bikes due to a dangerous defect that could lead to serious accidents. The Trek electric bike recall, announced on February 20, 2025, affects specific models of Electra Navigator Go! and Electra Ace of Spades Go! e-bikes.

What’s the Issue with the Trek Electric Bike?

The rear fender on these e-bikes can come loose and make contact with the rear wheel, potentially stopping the bike suddenly. This unexpected obstruction poses a major crash risk for riders, potentially leading to severe injuries.

Affected Models and Identification

This recall covers the following models:

  • Electra Navigator Go! (Model years 2021 and 2022)
    • Matte Nautilus Blue with map/ocean graphics
    • “Electra” printed on the chain guard with a compass on the top tube
  • Electra Ace of Spades Go! (Model years 2018, 2021, and 2022)
    • Matte Black with a gold spade
    • “Electra” printed on the down tube and chain guard with a spade on the top tube

If you own one of these models, stop using it immediately and contact an authorized Trek or Electra retailer for a free repair, which includes replacing the rear fender bolts.

Trek Electric Bike Injury Reports and Legal Implications

Trek has reported two incidents where the rear fender detached and came into contact with the wheel, leading to crashes. One of these incidents resulted in a fractured shinbone, a meniscus tear, and multiple scrapes.

This Trek electric bike recall raises serious concerns about product safety and manufacturer responsibility. If you or a loved one has been injured due to this defect, you may have the right to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
