We handle cases involving serious burn injuries. Our firm works with clients who suffered third degree burns from electric shocks, restaurants, products, and other causes.

When we handle burn injury cases, we engage prominent experts to help the Court and juries understand the severity of the burn injuries our clients suffer. Burn injuries can cause a lifetime of pain and suffering, as well as significant economic losses for future treatment.

Because burn injuries can have a permanent impact on our clients, we monitor medical technology. We study how treatments for burn injuries improve for the benefit of our clients.  These advancements are necessary because various things, especially consumer products, cause burn injuries.

We’ve seen electric blankets and heating pads cause serious burns. Exploding lithium batteries in vapes, eScooters, and other products are another cause. Today, USA Today reported about its ” review of Consumer Product Safety Commission data[, which found [that o]f 259 air fryer incident reports reviewed  . . , about a fifth involved injuries, resulting in first aid administration or visits to the emergency room. ”

Consumer Product Safety Commission Recalls Concerning Air Fryers

There have been several recalls of Air Fryers or Air Fryer Overs.

Insignia® Air Fryers and Air Fryer Ovens

USA Today noted a recent recall of Insignia® Air Fryers and Air Fryer Ovens. “In mid-March, Best Buy recalled more than a quarter of a million Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens in North America after two dozen reports of products catching fire, burning, melting and shattering glass. The recall affected Insignia models bought between November 2021 and November 2023. This wasn’t the first time Best Buy pulled Insignia air fryers from shelves. In April 2022, it recalled nearly 700,000 units.” CPSC did not report any injuries. Contact us if one of these or another model injured you. This is only one of the models:

     Cosori Air Fryers

These overheat. This is due to a wire connection issue. CSPC announced this recall last year, February 2023. “About 2 million (In addition, about 250,000 were sold in Canada and about 21,000 were sold in Mexico)” One looks like this:

Best Buy, Home Depot, Target, and online retailers like Amazon sold them. They injured people. As of last year, there were at least “205 reports of the air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking. These include 10 reports of minor, superficial burn injuries and 23 reports of minor property damage.” This appears to be an annual thing….

     Magic Chef Air Fryers

In October, 2022, CPSC announced a recall of Magic Chef Air Fryers, model numbers MCAF56DB (black) and MCAF56DW (white).. “The air fryer can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.” Fortunately, retailers sold only just over 10,000 of these.

Online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and BestBuy sold them. At the time of the recall, there were no injuries. CPSC reported another air fryer recall months earlier.

Insignia™ Air Fryers and Air Fryer

Insignia ran into problems in 2022. The Insignia Air Fryers and Air Fryer Ovens pictured below reportedly overheat.

Sold on Amazon, E-Bay, and google from 2018 to 2022, retailers sold over half a million. CPSC reported in 2022 the following: “Best Buy has received 68 reports from U.S. consumers and 36 reports from Canadian consumers of the air fryer or air fryer ovens catching fire, burning or melting.  These include seven reports of minor property damage and two reports of injuries, including an injury to a child’s leg.”

Burin Injuries Can Cause Permanent Damages

Even less than third degree burns can cause long-term injuries. Skin discoloration and scarring are examples.

More serious burns can damage never cells and cause desensitization. They can require painful surgeries and procedures like skin grafts or involving the use of lasers.

A medical illustration depicting a skin graft procedure. The image shows a detailed view of a human arm, where a piece of skin has been surgically attached to cover a burn area. The graft is neatly stitched in place, with a focus on the texture and color differences between the healthy skin and the newly grafted area. This illustration is educational, highlighting the medical technique and care involved in a skin graft surgery.

This leads to medical bills, co-pays, and future medical care needs. Sometimes forecasting the long-term costs can be difficult. We can engage experts like life care planners to help assure clients receive full compensation.
