FENGQS E-Bikes Recalled After Fires
FENGQS E-Bikes Recalled After Fires: Lithium Battery Dangers Strike Again
KBD Attorneys Continues to Warn Consumers About the Hidden Dangers of E-Bikes and Electric Scooters
Electric bikes (e-bikes) are growing in popularity across the U.S.—offering a convenient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective transportation option. But not all of these vehicles are safe. On July 24, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an urgent recall of the FENGQS F7 Pro electric bike, sold exclusively on Amazon, after multiple reports of lithium-ion batteries overheating and catching fire. This isn’t an isolated event—at KBD Attorneys, we’ve been tracking a rising wave of defective e-bike and e-scooter recalls that pose serious threats to consumer safety.

The FENGQS F7 Pro Recall: What You Need to Know
According to the CPSC recall notice, about 100 FENGQS F7 Pro electric bikes are affected. These bikes, manufactured by Shenzhen Fengqisi Car Industry Co., Ltd. (FENGQS) in China, were sold online via Amazon from May to December 2024, retailing between $700 and $1,200.The lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite, putting riders at risk of fires, burns, serious injury, or even death. The recalled batteries were manufactured on April 21, 2024.
The bike model is identifiable by:
-
The “FENGQS” brand printed on the downtube.
-
The model number “F7 Pro” on the chain stay near the rear wheel.
-
A battery label that includes 21.5Ah capacity and the date 2024/4/21.
So far, there have been 13 reports of the bikes igniting, including two fires that caused
$4,000 in property damage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported—yet.
What Should Consumers Do?
If you own one of these bikes:
-
Stop using it immediately—do not continue to ride it or charge the battery.
-
Contact FENGQS at recall@fengqs.work to request a full refund.
-
Mark the battery with your name, the word “recalled,” and the current date next to the production date using a permanent marker.
-
Submit a photo of the marked battery and confirm that you have properly disposed of it.
Important Note on Battery Disposal:
Do not dispose of the battery in the trash, curbside recycling, or typical battery drop-off boxes. Lithium-ion batteries, especially defective or recalled ones, are a serious fire hazard. Contact your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) center first to confirm they accept recalled lithium-ion batteries.
Why Are These Fires Happening?
At the center of this and many other electric bike recalls is one culprit: lithium-ion batteries. These high-powered, rechargeable batteries are commonly used in consumer electronics, e-bikes, e-scooters, and hoverboards. But when they are poorly designed, defectively manufactured, or overcharged, they can enter a dangerous state known as thermal runaway—which can lead to explosions or fires.
Low-cost manufacturers often cut corners by using unregulated components or failing to implement necessary safety checks. When these products are sold online, especially through massive marketplaces like Amazon, they often bypass traditional safety review and quality assurance processes.
Amazon’s Role and Consumer Risk
Amazon has repeatedly come under fire for allowing hazardous products to be sold on its platform—often without properly vetting overseas manufacturers. This isn’t the first recall of an electric bike sold on Amazon, and it likely won’t be the last. In fact, Amazon has become a hotbed for unregulated lithium-ion battery devices, many of which pose deadly risks to families who assume the products meet U.S. safety standards.
Consumers are left vulnerable—often unaware of who manufactured the product, how to contact the company, or even that a recall has occurred.
KBD Attorneys Has Been Sounding the Alarm
We at KBD Attorneys have been tracking this growing threat and advocating for victims of dangerous e-bikes and scooters. Time and time again, these electric vehicles—often hailed as modern mobility solutions—have instead resulted in fires, explosions, serious injuries, and tragic fatalities.
Our firm has handled and investigated multiple cases involving burn injuries, property damage, and wrongful death linked to lithium-ion battery fires. And the troubling trend is clear: These products are flooding the U.S. market with insufficient regulation and oversight.
What to Do If You Were Injured by an E-Bike or E-Scooter
If you or a loved one has suffered a burn, smoke inhalation, fall injury, or property loss due to a defective electric bike or scooter, you may be entitled to compensation. Product manufacturers, distributors, and sellers—including online retailers like Amazon—need to take accountable for:
-
Defective design
-
Manufacturing flaws
-
Failure to warn of known risks
-
Negligent sales of unregulated devices
Our attorneys can help investigate the product’s origin, prove fault, and pursue financial recovery for medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering.
Holding Manufacturers Accountable
In this case, the manufacturer is Shenzhen Fengqisi Car Industry Co., Ltd., based in China. Foreign manufacturers may assume they are beyond the reach of U.S. legal action, but federal product liability laws allow U.S. victims to seek justice through litigation, including lawsuits against:
-
Importers and distributors
-
U.S.-based third-party sellers
-
Online marketplaces that facilitated the sale
We know how to pursue these complex international product liability cases—and we are ready to stand up for you.
A Pattern of Negligence
This is not an isolated event. In recent years, we’ve seen:
-
Children killed in e-scooter fires
-
Apartments destroyed by battery explosions
-
Lawsuits filed against Amazon and manufacturers for knowingly selling unsafe products
It’s time for greater accountability—and stronger protections for American consumers. These fires are not just accidents—they are often the predictable result of corporate negligence, weak regulations, and dangerous cost-cutting.
