Burn Injuries from Heated Gloves
Burn Injuries from Defective Heated Gloves: What Victims Need to Know
Last week, we shared a consumer safety warning about Velazzio Thermo1 Battery Heated Gloves. This week, we’re focusing on the real danger behind the recall: serious burn injuries.
At KBD Attorneys, we don’t just report recalls—we represent real people who suffer life-altering injuries because of dangerous products. In the case of Velazzio’s battery-heated gloves, over 119 people have already reported burn injuries, and we know many more incidents likely remain unreported.
As lawyers who handle severe burn injury cases caused by defective products, we know just how devastating these injuries can be—and how important it is to hold companies accountable when something meant to help people ends up harming them.
The Velazzio Thermo1 Glove Warning Recap
On July 31, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a formal warning urging consumers to immediately stop using the Velazzio Thermo1 Heated Gloves, which were sold on Amazon.com from September 2019 to the present.
According to the CPSC:
-
The gloves can overheat or develop hotspots
-
There have been 137 reports of overheating
-
At least 119 people have suffered burn injuries
-
The Chinese manufacturer has not cooperated in issuing a recall
-
About 58,700 units were sold, posing ongoing risk to the public

Velazzio Heated Gloves Pose Serious Burn Risk
How Heated Gloves Can Cause Serious Burns
Heated gloves like the Velazzio Thermo1 use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries to warm internal heating elements. These batteries are powerful—but also volatile. When they malfunction, short-circuit, or overheat, they can generate temperatures high enough to:
-
Burn the skin directly through the glove material
-
Create localized “hotspots” that cause severe pain or blistering
-
Ignite internal components, leading to thermal burns or fires
-
Cause burns while worn on hands, where skin is more sensitive and exposed
The result can range from first-degree burns (redness and pain) to second- and third-degree burns that blister, scar, or require skin grafts.

The Problem with Heated Products Sold on Amazon
The Velazzio gloves were sold exclusively on Amazon.com, where thousands of third-party sellers list products with limited oversight. While Amazon is one of the largest retailers in the world, many of the products sold on its marketplace:
-
Bypass U.S. safety standards
-
Come from foreign manufacturers with no U.S. presence
-
Lack adequate product testing or warnings
-
May be impossible to trace once injuries occur
As attorneys, we’ve gone after not only overseas manufacturers but also retailers like Amazon who profit from these dangerous sales. While the law has evolved, Amazon can now be held liable in many cases for injuries caused by unsafe products sold on its platform.
The Danger Isn’t Going Away
Burn injuries from defective heated gloves are not isolated incidents. In recent years, we’ve seen a disturbing increase in injuries caused by battery-powered or heated wearable products, including:
-
Heated socks and insoles
-
Electric blankets
-
Battery-powered vests
-
Heated seat cushions
Many of these products rely on low-cost lithium-ion battery packs that are not rigorously tested, especially when sold by unknown third-party brands online. Without regulation or responsive recalls, injuries will keep happening.
At KBD Attorneys, we believe that one burn injury is one too many—especially when it was preventable.
Real Burn Injuries, Real Lives Affected
While the CPSC’s statistics report 119 burn injuries, what that number doesn’t reflect is the real impact on people’s lives. Victims can experience:
-
Severe burns that required skin graft surgery
-
Nerve damage in the hands, making it impossible to return to work
-
Long-term pain from scar tissue or skin sensitivity
-
Psychological trauma, especially when burns were unexpected and preventable
In some cases, victims hav no idea what caused the pain until the gloves were removed and the damage was already done.
Can You Sue Over Burn Injuries from Heated Gloves?
Yes. If you were injured by Velazzio heated gloves—or any defective heated product—you may have a valid legal claim for:
-
Product liability
-
Negligence
-
Failure to warn
-
Design or manufacturing defects
Even though the manufacturer is based in China, U.S. product liability law allows injured consumers to seek justice through importers, distributors, and retailers—including Amazon.
KBD Attorneys can help you determine:
-
Who is legally responsible
-
What your case is worth
-
What evidence is needed (e.g., photos, medical records, product packaging)
-
How to pursue compensation without paying legal fees upfront
What to Do If You’ve Been Burned
