Burn Hazards May Be in Your Backyard

As the sun starts to linger longer in the sky and the days warm up, one thing’s for sure—summer is almost here. That means barbecues, pool parties, and long afternoons spent lounging in the backyard while the kids splash around. For families with pools, it’s time to start scrubbing, skimming, and vacuuming to get everything sparkling clean.

But before you plug in that robotic pool cleaner and hit “start,” there’s an urgent warning you need to hear—your pool vacuum might be a fire waiting to happen.

Just in time for swim season, Aiper has issued a major recall of its Seagull Pro cordless robotic pool cleaners due to burn and fire hazards. At KBD Attorneys, we’re sounding the alarm to keep your family safe from dangerous products—especially the ones you trust to make your home safer and more fun.

A Danger During Pool Prep

The Aiper Seagull Pro ZT6001 is a high-end pool vacuum that many pool owners use to automate cleaning. Sleek, powerful, and cordless, it seemed like the perfect tool to take the hassle out of pool prep.

But now it’s being recalled after 19 serious reports of overheating, including fires, melting units, and property damage. In the middle of summer? That’s a terrifying thought.

When you’re charging a pool vacuum in your garage or by your patio—the last thing you expect is for it to burst into flames.

The Recall Details You Need to Know

On March 20, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that about 32,660 Aiper Seagull Pro cordless pool vacuums are being recalled in the U.S., with another 2,530 sold in Canada.

Product Info:

  • Brand/Model: Aiper Seagull Pro ZT6001

  • Color: Dark gray

  • Weight: About 24 pounds

  • Size: Approx. 19.5” x 18.5” x 15”

  • Serial Numbers: Begin with “S/N 61”

  • Sold At: Best Buy, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon, and Aiper.com from March 2023 through May 2024

  • Price: $700 to $900

The culprit? A large current adapter used to charge the unit. It’s overheating and causing fires, especially while the unit is charging. Five cases have already resulted in property damage, and that number could rise as the weather gets hotter and usage increases.

What Should Pool Owners Do?

If you own an Aiper Seagull Pro:

  1. Stop using it immediately.

  2. Do not charge it.

  3. Contact Aiper to arrange for a free replacement unit—they’ll send you a newer model called the Aiper Scuba S1.

  4. Aiper is providing prepaid shipping labels to return the recalled units, or you can contact them for instructions on how to send it back safely.

Aiper is reaching out to known customers directly, but if you purchased yours secondhand or as a gift, you may not get that notification—which is why public awareness matters.

Why This Recall Is So Serious—Especially in Summer

Here’s the thing: fire risks increase in the summer. Heat speeds up battery degradation, and many people store or charge devices in garages, sheds, and poolside areas that aren’t temperature controlled. Combine that with powerful current adapters and extended use during peak heat, and it’s a recipe for disaster.

It’s also worth noting that pool equipment is often used near flammable materials—wooden decks, patio furniture, landscaping mulch, and sometimes even propane tanks for grills or heaters.

Imagine a device catching fire while charging just a few feet from your home—or near where your children are playing.

It only takes a second for a malfunction to cause major damage.

Fires, Batteries, and Burn Hazards: Not Just a Pool Problem

At KBD Attorneys, we’ve seen firsthand what happens when products like this go wrong:

  • House fires from defective batteries

  • Garage explosions from overheated charging docks

  • Burn injuries from handheld devices and power tools

  • Lawn and outdoor equipment malfunctions

And what’s most upsetting? Many of these incidents were preventable. Companies have a legal and moral obligation to ensure their products are tested, safe, and properly labeled—especially when they involve electric components and rechargeable batteries.

When they fail to meet that standard, families pay the price.
