PFAS Exposure Lawsuits and Legal Help

Fighting for Justice in PFAS Contamination and Toxic Exposure Cases

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)—commonly called “forever chemicals”—have contaminated water systems, soil, and consumer products across the country. Linked to cancer, thyroid disease, liver damage, and more, PFAS exposure poses a serious public health crisis. At KBD Attorneys, we’re helping individuals and communities hold corporations accountable for the harm these toxic chemicals cause.

If you or a loved one has been exposed to PFAS, including through firefighting foam (AFFF) or contaminated drinking water, our team is here to fight for your rights.

What Are PFAS?

PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals used for decades in industrial, military, and consumer products like:

  • Non-stick cookware (Teflon)

  • Water-repellent clothing

  • Food packaging

  • Firefighting foam (AFFF)

  • Industrial processes

PFAS don’t break down naturally, accumulating in the environment and in the human body over time. Even low levels of exposure may lead to long-term health problems.

Health Risks Linked to PFAS Exposure

Scientific research has connected PFAS exposure to:

  • Thyroid disease

  • Kidney and testicular cancers

  • Liver damage

  • Immune system suppression

  • Developmental delays and low birth weight in children

  • High cholesterol and heart disease risk

Communities near military bases, airports, and industrial facilities are especially vulnerable due to the use of AFFF and PFAS-contaminated water sources.

Current PFAS Lawsuits and MDL Updates

PFAS lawsuits have been consolidated under MDL No. 2873, overseen by Judge Richard Gergel. These lawsuits fall into three main categories:

  • Water contamination

  • Firefighting foam (AFFF) exposure

  • Personal injury and wrongful death due to PFAS-contaminated drinking water

As of June 2025, over 10,390 lawsuits have been filed. A bellwether trial is scheduled for October 20, 2025, and legal analysts anticipate a global settlement by the end of 2025.

Notable updates:

  • Science Day on June 20, 2025, will evaluate links between PFAS exposure and thyroid/liver cancers.

  • The Maryland Attorney General expanded a lawsuit against W.L. Gore for decades of chemical pollution from PFAS use in manufacturing.

These developments may significantly affect your rights and compensation if you’ve been harmed by PFAS.

AFFF and Firefighter Exposure

AFFF, or Aqueous Film-Forming Foam, has been widely used by:

  • Military bases

  • Fire departments

  • Airports

  • Industrial plants

KBD Attorneys is currently investigating AFFF exposure cases for firefighters and military personnel. Studies show AFFF use can result in prolonged PFAS exposure and increased cancer risk.

If you worked in these environments and later developed health issues, you may be eligible for compensation.
