Decades of Alleged Abuse by LA OB/GYN

In late 2025, CNN and other major outlets reported on nearly 500 women who have accused a longtime Los Angeles obstetrician‑gynecologist of sexual abuse that spanned decades. This story is not just about what happened — it’s about what can be done now to seek justice, hold institutions accountable, and protect future patients.

Who Is Dr. Barry J. Brock?

Dr. Barry J. Brock was a board‑certified obstetrician‑gynecologist who practiced in Southern California for more than four decades, most notably at Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center and various Beverly Hills clinics. Over his long career, he delivered babies and provided women’s health care — a position built on trust.

But in recent years, that trust has been seriously called into question.

Allegations That Shocked the Medical World

Hundreds of former patients have filed civil lawsuits alleging that Dr. Brock engaged in sexually abusive conduct under the guise of legitimate medical care. These allegations include claims of:

  • Unnecessary and invasive pelvic exams without medical justification or consent.
  • Non-consensual touching or conduct during examinations.
  • Sexually inappropriate comments or conduct that left women traumatized.

Many of these women say they trusted Dr. Brock with their health — only to be violated in moments of vulnerability.

The lawsuits don’t stop with Dr. Brock as an individual. They also name Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center, alleging these institutions had actual or constructive knowledge of complaints and yet failed to act. Plaintiffs argue that complaints were ignored, medical privileges were renewed despite warning signs, and reporting obligations were not fulfilled — potentially allowing alleged abuse to continue unchecked.

This type of institutional liability — failure to protect patients and report misconduct — is a cornerstone of modern medical malpractice and personal injury law.

Why Patients Are Coming Forward Now

Many survivors waited decades to speak out. That’s partly because of the profound trauma associated with sexual abuse and the trust placed in medical professionals. But California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover‑Up Accountability Act opened a legal window for victims to pursue civil claims regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred — and many have stepped forward.

Taking Action: Your Rights Matter

If you or a loved one were a patient of Dr. Brock or another doctor and have experienced inappropriate or abusive treatment, you may have legal rights to pursue a claim. These claims can help victims:

  • Seek financial compensation for medical harm, and long‑term impacts.
  • Hold both individuals and institutions accountable under applicable state laws.
  • Advocate for systemic changes that protect future patients.

As personal injury attorneys, we believe that actions speak louder than what happened. Taking action — through legal channels — is a powerful way to seek justice, validate survivors’ experiences, and push for accountability in the healthcare system.

When Medical Trust Is Broken, Accountability Matters

If you believe you have been affected by this case or similar misconduct, it’s vital to speak with an experienced sexual abuse and medical malpractice attorney right away. You don’t have to navigate this alone — legal help is available to support you every step of the way.
