KBA litigates hernia mesh claims and has for many years. An overview can be found here: Hernia Mesh Lawsuit | Hernia Mesh Injury Lawyer (kbaattorneys.com).

Partner Robert Price and Attorney Keith Smith, along with co-counsel at Cohen and Malad, secured an important victory for hernia mesh clients. We filed hundreds of lawsuits against a company, LifeCell, concerning Strattice hernia mesh.

Strattice Hernia Mesh

Strattice hernia mesh is a biologic mesh. Some hernia mesh products are made of synthetic material like plastic, essentially. Other mesh contains cells or tissues. Those are biologic mesh.

Strattice hernia mesh is biologic made from pig cells. To our knowledge, this is the only current litigation involving biologic mesh. A prior biologic mesh litigation resolved years ago.

Strattice Hernia Mesh Lawsuits

KBA filed lawsuits in state and federal courts in NJ alleging the Strattice hernia mesh failed. We allege LifeCell designed the Strattice hernia mesh defectively. There were risks associated with Strattice hernia mesh that LifeCell knew and should have known that we allege they did not disclose sufficiently. Many of the many allegations and complications here are similar to other hernia mesh products. We discussed that here: Symptoms of Hernia Mesh Complications (kbaattorneys.com).

Strattice Hernia Mesh Motions Practice

There was a litigation against LifeCell in NJ years ago. In 2014, we saw a court rule against the plaintiffs there. In this Strattice litigation we have now, Defendant attacked similar claims, including design defect. Those claims survived, which is a huge victory for our clients. In total, we won three out of four of the arguments.

This victory assures we are going to trial. The first trial begins March 2024.
