Giant Bicycle Recalls Momentum Vida E+ E-Bikes Due to Crash Hazard
KBD Attorneys Warns Riders of Fall Risk, Urges Victims to Know Their Rights
Source: CPSC Recall Notice – July 10, 2025
At KBD Attorneys, we are committed to helping victims of defective and dangerous products—and to educating the public about recalls that could impact their safety. One of the latest comes from a trusted name in bicycles: Giant Bicycle Inc. On July 10, 2025, Giant issued a voluntary recall of 6,200 Momentum Vida E+ electric bicycles due to a serious fall and crash hazard involving the bike’s fork steerer tube.
These stylish, modern e-bikes were marketed as a reliable, high-end option for commuters, recreational riders, and anyone looking for extra mobility. But according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the fork steerer tube can crack, break, or separate during use, potentially throwing riders off the bike and causing serious injuries.
This post breaks down what you need to know about the recall—and what rights you may have if you or a loved one has been injured by an e-bike or other micro-mobility product.
What Is Being Recalled?
The recall affects Momentum Vida E+ E-Bikes, manufactured in China and sold nationwide through authorized Giant Bicycle dealers and on the Momentum website. These bikes were on the market from September 2019 through May 2025 and sold for $2,500 to $3,200.
These bikes came in multiple colors and styles, including:
- Metallic red
- Pearl white
- Navy blue
- Metallic green
- Indigo blue
- Happy mint (light green)
- Panther (black)
Each model was available in mid-step and low-step frame configurations, with small, medium, and large sizes.
How to Identify an Affected Bike
Each bike has a unique serial number stamped into the left rear dropout and printed on a sticker under the downtube. If the third character in the serial number is:
- “H,” “J,” or “K” → the bike is included in the recall and must have its fork replaced.
- “G” → the bike may still be affected but requires a visual inspection at an authorized Giant dealer.
No injuries have been reported yet, but four incidents involving broken forks have already occurred, which prompted the recall.
Why Is This Serious?
When a fork steerer tube breaks, the front wheel can detach or suddenly shift, causing the rider to lose control and crash—often at high speeds. For e-bikes, which can reach 20 mph or more, this kind of failure can result in:
- Fractures or broken bones
- Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs)
- Facial lacerations or dental injuries
- Road rash or third-degree burns from contact with pavement
- Spinal injuries
- Amputation
- Even death in high-impact falls or traffic accidents
These are not hypothetical injuries. At KBD Attorneys, we’ve represented individuals and families whose lives were forever changed because a manufacturer failed to properly design, test, or recall a dangerous product.
Our Work: Fighting for Victims of Bike & E-Scooter Injuries
This recall is just the latest in a series of serious safety concerns surrounding electric bikes and scooters. As micro-mobility grows more popular, so too have the number of injury reports, product recalls, and lawsuits.
KBD Attorneys has written about injuries caused by:
- Defective electric scooters and e-bikes
- Battery fires and explosions
- Faulty brakes, steering systems, or structural components
- Poor product warnings or missing safety instructions
- Rental scooters from companies like Bird, Lime, or Spin
We’ve seen cases involving:
- Burns from battery fires
- Skull fractures and TBIs from sudden crashes
- Leg amputations after getting caught in failed brake systems
- Fatal head injuries due to unanticipated speed surges or part failures
If you’ve been hurt—or if a loved one has died—because of a bike or e-scooter defect, you may be entitled to compensation for medical costs, pain and suffering, lost wages, and more.
What to Do If You Own This Bike
If you own a Momentum Vida E+ E-Bike, you should stop riding it immediately.
Step-by-step:
- Check your serial number (left rear dropout or sticker under downtube).
- If the third character is H, J, or K, the bike is under recall.
- Contact a Giant Bicycle dealer to schedule a free fork replacement.
- If the third character is G, you still need a visual inspection at a dealer.
This is a fast-track recall, meaning the CPSC is working with the company to quickly remove defective products from circulation.
Defective Product? Know Your Legal Rights.
Manufacturers are responsible for making products that are safe when used as intended. That includes testing for mechanical failures, issuing timely warnings, and recalling dangerous products before injuries occur. When they fail to do so, they can be held liable under product liability laws.
At KBD Attorneys, we help victims of:
- Design defects
- Manufacturing defects
- Failure to warn or inadequate instructions
We will work with engineers, accident reconstructionists, and medical experts to uncover the truth, prove negligence, and fight for maximum compensation on behalf of our clients.

Final Thoughts
The Momentum Vida E+ e-bike recall may be limited to a few thousand units, but the broader issue is one of growing concern. As electric bikes and scooters become more common on streets and sidewalks across the country, companies must be held to the highest safety standards.
Unfortunately, history shows that not all defects are caught before they harm someone. If you’ve suffered a broken bone, traumatic injury, burn, or loss of a loved one due to a defective e-bike or scooter, KBD Attorneys is here to help.
We fight for those injured by unsafe products—so they can focus on recovery and healing.
