Favoto Bike Helmets Pose Deadly Head Injury Risk
CPSC Issues Urgent Warning: Favoto Bike Helmets Pose Deadly Head Injury Risk
Unsafe helmets violate U.S. safety standards — riders urged to stop using them immediately
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a critical safety warning to consumers nationwide about Favoto bicycle helmets, which fail to meet mandatory federal safety standards and could lead to serious or fatal head injuries. (CPSC Warning, Oct. 23, 2025)
What the CPSC Found
According to the CPSC, Favoto helmets — sold primarily on Amazon between April 2022 and January 2025 — violate multiple federal safety standards, including positional stability, certification, and labeling requirements. Most concerning, the helmets can fail to protect riders in a crash, posing an extreme risk of serious head injury or death.
The helmets, manufactured by Shenzhen Favoto Co., Ltd. of China, have not been recalled, and the company has refused to offer a remedy or refund. This means the burden falls on consumers to immediately remove these dangerous products from use.
CPSC officials urge all consumers to:
- Stop using Favoto helmets immediately
- Cut the straps to prevent further use
- Dispose of the helmets safely
- Report any injuries or defects to SaferProducts.gov
How to Identify the Hazardous Helmets
Favoto helmets were sold in several color combinations — including black/red, black/blue, black/yellow, black/green, carbon, gray, black, and titanium — featuring:
- Black padding and adjustable back knob
- Reflective black straps with a red or black buckle
- The word “FAVOTO” printed in white on the side
An estimated 2,200 units were sold in the U.S., though similar models may have been distributed by third-party sellers under different names.
A Worrying Pattern: Unsafe Gear Sold Online
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. KBD Attorneys has repeatedly raised concerns about unsafe consumer products sold through major online retailers, including Amazon and Shein, that bypass U.S. safety regulations and put unsuspecting buyers at risk.
Helmets are supposed to be the first and most reliable line of defense for cyclists, scooter riders, and e-bike users. When manufacturers cut corners or sell uncertified products, they endanger both children and adults who rely on these helmets to save their lives in the event of an accident.
KBD Attorneys Has Warned About Bicycle and Scooter Injuries Before
Ketterer, Browne & Davani has written extensively about bike, scooter, and e-mobility dangers — from faulty e-scooter batteries that spark fires to unsafe helmets that fail under impact.
We’ve seen the real-world consequences when defective protective gear or products cause traumatic brain injuries, concussions, and even wrongful deaths. If you or a loved one has suffered harm while using a bike, e-bike, or scooter, you may have legal options.
Our attorneys help victims of unsafe consumer products pursue justice against negligent manufacturers and distributors, especially when foreign sellers or online platforms fail to meet U.S. safety standards.
What Consumers Can Do
If you own a Favoto helmet, stop using it immediately and do not resell or donate it. Dispose of the product and report the hazard to the CPSC to help prevent further injuries.
If you or someone you know was injured while wearing one of these helmets — or any product that failed during normal use — KBD Attorneys can help.
We are committed to holding corporations and online sellers accountable for distributing unsafe products, and to making sure victims receive the compensation and justice they deserve.
