KBA’s Attorneys and Co-Workers Fight beyond the Courtroom
We are litigators and trial lawyers, and also community members. Each of us is active in our neighborhoods. We coach teams, volunteer, and raise our families while serving our clients. To help highlight the organizations we support, we’re going to be more vocal about the work we do outside the courts. With that in mind, this month we are supporting the Harford Family House charity.
Harford Family House serves Harford County Families
“Harford Family House is the largest provider of transitional housing for families with children experiencing homelessness and unaccompanied adults ages 18-24 in Harford County.” There are 165 waiting for help. It is “the only organizations in Harford County capable of keeping an intact family, including father, together during the crisis of homelessness.” Its goal is to “end homelessness in Harford County, one family at a time.” So far this year, the organization has helped 50 families.
KBA attorneys have supported organizations like Harford Family House for many years, including Homeless Persons Representation Project (“HPRP”). HPRP is Maryland’s only legal services and advocacy organization fighting homelessness. Its staff and volunteers provide free legal services for low-income people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Ten years ago, HPRP awarded KBA attorney Justin Browne Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award for helping start MSBA’s Military Law Committee and helping launch HPRP’s Veterans’ Legal Assistance Conference & Training. We continue supporting efforts to reduce homelessness and to help families in crisis.
