Jool Baby Infants Swings Sold at Walmart Recalled for Suffocation Risk

Babies may suffocate in the Jool Baby Infants Swing. Walmart sells these products. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice about the suffocation risk these products pose. CPSC alleges the product violates federal law. The company marketed, intended, and designed the sings for infant sleep. “[T]hey have an incline angle greater than 10 degrees in violation of the CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Regulation and the Safe Sleep for Babies Act.” This recall is significant.

Recall of 63,000 Jool Baby’s Nova Baby Infant Swings 

The manufacturer made these products from June 2022 through September 2023. The CPSC notice describes them as follows

1. They are gray and measure about 28 inches long, 19 inches wide and 24 inches high.
2. They have a round aluminum base with music buttons on the front, a metal seat frame, a cloth seat with restraints and a headrest, and a canopy with hanging toys (yellow moon, blue cloud, and pink star.)
3. The swings can be powered using AAA batteries or an AC adaptor and came with an electronic remote control.
4. “Jool Baby” appears on the swing’s base and “NOVA” on the seat label. The manufacturing date code in month, day, year format can be found on the sewn-in warning label on the back of the swing’s seat.

This is Yet Another Recall in a Long-Line of Baby Sleepers, Swings, and Related Devices 

KBA has covered several products like this. Fisher Price had a recall. Boppy’s lounger is another. Ten babies died allegedly because of the recalled Boppy infant lounger. Boppy recalled over 3 million Boppy padded cushions in September 2021. The recall was enormous. “Boppy sold about 3.3 million of the recalled loungers at juvenile product stores and mass merchandisers nationwide and online, including Pottery Barn Kids, Target, and Walmart and online at Amazon.com. The loungers were sold from January 2004 through September 2021 for between $30 and $44.”
